Alfreda – Shares Ultimate Quarter Life Crisis Anthem ‘Adult Film Star’

Alfreda pulls back the curtain with her most revealing and unapologetic release to date. ‘Adult Film Star’ arrives as a self-described “ultimate quarter-life crisis anthem”. The single is a raw, self-aware portrait of emotional burnout and identity drift, delivered with her signature sky-high wig, theatrical flair, sharp streak of dark humour, and self-indulgent melodrama. Catch her perform the Wasserman showcase at The Great Escape in Brighton next month – tickets here.

Written over a lonely Christmas following an intense period of self-sabotage, ‘Adult Film Star’ blends introspection with a knowing edge, framing personal chaos in a way that feels both specific and widely relatable. Alfreda unfolds, “My career felt stagnant, I was single, lonely, and confused. I became a mother quite young, and once the relationship with my daughter’s father ended, I went a bit nuts. I tried everything and did everything to the point of numbness. This is essentially my ultimate quarter-life crisis anthem.”

For the music video directed by Simran (DAZED 100, The Hellp, Snow Strippers), Alfreda leans fully into the camp to offset its melodrama, crafting a visual that is both extremely playful and disarmingly revealing. “I had this idea of running away from home in full glam, dragging a tiny bindle like I’m in a children’s story. It’s very earnest and over-the-top, but the illusion unravels quickly. I get tired, lose steam, and eventually just call my mum to come get me, which kind of exposes the whole thing as this privileged, ridiculous fantasy of escape.” It’s an image that feels intentionally earnest yet also exaggerated. Simran’s rough, slightly grey, naturalistic aesthetic ties this concept all together

‘Adult Film Star’

‘Adult Film Star’ expands Alfreda’s ever-growing TEASERAMA! Universe, a grand theatrical production that never quite makes it to opening night. Each single (Punch & JudyStairway To HeavenPink Elephants) stands alone, yet all exist within the same dramatic, behind-the-scenes spectacle: half-built sets, abandoned props, costumes without a stage, and the feeling of a huge show that ran out of money just before the curtain rose.

Further expanding this world, Alfreda has launched a social-lead mockumentary series. Watch the latest clip here. Think Spinal Tap, The Comic Strip’s Bad News, and Charli XCX’s The Moment all rolled into one, with a bit more smugged lipstick and higher heels. The series follows a delusional, exaggerated version of Alfreda chasing fame and consistently getting it wrong. Episode titles include Find a Manager, Find a Band, and Find an Agent, offering a sharp, comedic take on the music industry.
