Affection To Rent – announce their debut single ”If We Fell”

Emerging from the depths of the grunge revival scene, Affection to Rent is excited to announce the release of its brand-new single, “If We Fall” scheduled for September 27th, 2024.

This release is for fans of Echo and the Bunnymen, PJ Harvey, and Smashing Pumpkins, and promises to be a defining moment for the band, showcasing their unique blend of nostalgic grunge infused with haunting vocal melodies.

Speaking about the single, Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff shared: “I wrote it at 16 after hearing Nirvana’s Bleach for the first time. The arrangement draws upon the push and pull of an emotive narrator amidst a vast and violent landscape of crashing guitars. The experimental arrangement consists of warm washy nostalgic grunge with subtle gothic flavour in the melodies, commanding a distressed elegance and angst.”

Only a year old, Affection to Rent has already made a significant impact with their live performances, from thick and heavy to ethereal and personal, the five-piece’s live sets are a cathartic experience with a contagious desperation

The band has quickly garnered attention, being long-listed for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition. Fans can catch Affection to Rent during Ireland Music Week in Dublin this October, where they will be performing alongside some of the most promising acts in the indie and alternative scene.

Frontwoman Abbey Addenbroke-Sheriff has also received notable recognition, having been handpicked by Fontaines D.C. for their scholarship program. Abbey moved from her home near Bristol to Ireland to pursue this opportunity, with Fontaines D.C. guitarist Carlos O’Connell praising her as “brilliant” and “exciting to hear such raw talent” in an interview with NME.

“If We Fall” is set to make waves within the alternative music scene, establishing Affection to Rent as a band to watch.
