Faroese visionary artist Eivør has revealed a new song from her upcoming studio album, Tungl, due out on October 16th this year. The track ‘Verjugarðar / Walls‘ is a triumph in dark cathartic soundscaping. Lyrically it inhabits the realms between lament and a devotional nurturing of hope.
Eivør reflects on the track:
“Verjugarðar / Walls is an epic and dark electronic rock ballad about two people who have lost what once bound them together behind walls of silence.
The paradox is that the walls we build to protect ourselves can also be the very walls that keep us apart.
This is one of those songs that took me a few years to write, but when it suddenly fell into place, I just couldn’t stop singing it.”
Whether you’re already embedded into Eivør’s ever-expanding world or yet to fall under its spell, Tungl is a far-reaching journey of discovery.
Tungl – a Faroese word for ‘moon’ – sees Eivør reach further into elemental realms than ever before. Immersive, unmoored and steeped in a sense of time-stretched drama where familiar marker points give way as an inner compass emerges over its 10 searching tracks, it’s an album also in tune with a very contemporary need for navigation, self-belief and rejuvenation in the most uncertain of times.
