downcast – Unveil Intensely Personal New Single “falling to pieces” (feat Tyler Zanon)

Bristol emo/alt-rock quartet downcast are back with their first new music of 2026, and it is the most deeply personal song the band have ever released.

We’re going to hand straight over to downcast frontman Liam Edwards, as he’s the only one who can do justice in explaining their new single:

‘falling to pieces’ is about my little brother who passed away last September at the age of twenty-eight. He struggled with severe alcohol addiction for a long time, which eventually caused fatal medical complications.

The song was written during a time of confusion, before we understood exactly what took him from us. All I knew was that nothing could change what had happened. The song captures the anger and frustration I carried while learning to accept this.

falling to pieces features a guest appearance by Tyler Zanon of Youth Fountain, adding his distinct tones to further increase the emotional heaviness of the track.

Away from preparing for the release of their new single, downcast recently announced a brand new UK headline tour. Taking in shows in London, Birmingham, Cardiff and Bristol, the tour will also see downcast trade places with their support band, UK pop punks Stay Safe, to take on support duties for the last two dates of the tour in Manchester and Huddersfield.

CF98 will also provide additional entertainment at the London, Birmingham and Cardiff dates.
