Tarragon has released the video for ‘Recover Your Light’, a reflective love song taken from his latest album Home At Cofa’s out now.
Reflecting the song’s themes, the video looks back with nostalgia to capture heartfelt moments of a couple’s blossoming romance. Its sepia tones compliment the warm hushed vocals and electronics delivered by Tarragon, alongside soaring strings by Avery Bright (U2, Dolly Parton, Josh Groban) and Juan Ariza (Niall Horan, Julia Michaels, Dua Lipa).
Regarding the song Tarragon says, “This song is inspired by a memory of love and the feeling of being emotionally lost and abandoned. It reflects the process of revisiting old memories, searching for emotions that once felt so vivid, and wondering where they disappeared to.
I wanted the music to convey a broad spectrum of emotions, rising and falling dynamically, while the lyrics remained concise and direct. The instrumentation was intended to express the feelings I struggled to put into words, with the lyrics serving as a bold and unflinching centrepiece.
Although the song is rooted in the experience of a relationship nearing its end, it ultimately speaks to something much broader: the countless emotions we carry through difficult periods of our lives that often resist explanation.
I wrote the song while working on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic, at a time when that relationship was beginning to unravel. It’s ultimately about searching for meaning in emotions that exist beyond language and trying to find light in moments when words alone fall short.”

‘Recover Your Light’ has been written, produced, mixed and engineered by Tarragon, with additional engineering by Juan and Avery, while mastering engineers Greg Calbi (John Lennon, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen) and Steve Fallone (Pet Shop Boys, The Strokes, Kurt Vile) have put their finishing touches to the track, as well as the entirety of Home At Cofa’s.
Home At Cofa’s was released at the start of May to great praise with widespread support for the record coming from the likes of The Independent, NPR, The Line Of Best Fit, BBC Introducing and many more.
The new album is a beautifully expansive and immersive record of ethereal indie electronica created by Tarragon, the moniker of Coventry-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Callum Pickard, alongside a host of collaborators from the likes of The 1975, Tame Impala, The War On Drugs, Supertramp, Bon Iver and more.
While the music is firmly the result of collaboration, the story of Home At Cofa’s – titled after the legendary Cofa’s Tree that gave Coventry its name – is all Callum’s. Fittingly, it’s a record all about belonging; how you fit into a city that sometimes feels like the wrong shape, how you move through life trying to adapt and grow with others, and what the notion of home means anyway.
