Prince – NPG Records Release Previously Unreleased Vault Single & Music Video “With This Tear”

Ahead of the 10th anniversary of Prince’s passing (April 21, 2026), Prince’s NPG Records, in partnership withLegacy Recordings, release new single and music video “With This Tear,” a previously unreleased studio recording from Prince’s legendary vault, out now.
 

Recorded in November 1991 at Paisley Park, “With This Tear” has been newly mixed and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer/producer Chris James, a former Prince engineer whose credits include HITnRUN Phase TwoArt Official Age, and Plectrumelectrum. The track features Prince producing, arranging, composing, and performing all instrumentation. Shortly after its creation, Prince offered the song to Céline Dion, who recorded and released her own version in 1992. This track is the beginning of a number of unreleased Prince recordings scheduled for release this year, as part of a never before released Prince album project.

The release arrives alongside the annual “A Day 2 Reflect | A Night 2 Remember,” held April 21 at Paisley Park, honoring the anniversary of Prince’s passing. The daytime programming includes public tours, a community gathering at the NPG Music Club featuring origami dove-making and a memorial fence, a curated listening lounge, and a candle lighting ceremony at 4:21pm, which will also be livestreamed. Evening events include a special Paisley Park walkthrough tour and a Prince in Concert screening.

It also precedes the upcoming Prince Celebration “10th Anniversary Celebration of Life,” a five-day global gathering honoring Prince’s enduring legacy, taking place June 3–7, 2026 across Paisley Park, and downtown Minneapolis.

Recently announced programming highlights include live performances, exclusive access to unreleased music, rare concert screenings, immersive fan experiences, and panels featuring Prince’s closest collaborators, alongside tributes to the iconic albums Parade, Emancipation, The Rainbow Children, Chaos and Disorder, and 3121. Signature events will include the Downtown Block Party at the Prince Mural,featuring a free, all-ages community Sing-Along on June 6, where thousands of fans will gather for a large-scale participatory tribute to Prince’s greatest hits, led by a live band and mass choir. 

For the first time, members of NPG and The Revolution will celebrate Prince together on stage, including Bobby Z and Lisa Coleman, joining Morris Hayes, Tevin Campbell, Tony M, Levi Seacer, Sonny T, Cora Coleman, Cassandra O’Neal, Greg Boyer, and Kenni Holmen. Special guest performers throughout the week include Chaka Khan, Morris Day, Miguel, Kat Graham, Tevin Campbell, Sounds of Blackness,Bilal, and recently added El DeBarge with more to be announced.

Additional appearances include Purple Rain Musical lead Kris Kollins, alongside The New
Artist Showcase
, spotlighting the next generation of talent inspired by Prince’s legacy. This year also includes the return of the DJ Dance Kickoff at First Avenue, and a full slate of programming at Paisley Park.

Throughout the week, attendees will experience exclusive presentations of unreleased material and rare archival content, offering deeper insight into Prince’s creative process and vault. VIP experiences will include guided tours of Paisley Park, curated dining experiences, a Sunday Gospel Brunch, and additional intimate programming designed to bring fans closer than ever to the legacy.
