Limerick rapper Strange Boy – announces upcoming album ‘Say Nothing’ with defining first single ‘Immortal’

One of Ireland’s most distinctive contemporary voices, Limerick rapper Strange Boy, today releases Immortal, the lead single from his forthcoming second album Say Nothing, due out in September. The track showcases Strange Boy’s signature ability to fuse incisive lyricism, cultural insight, and emotional depth with striking clarity.

Hailing from Caherdavin in Limerick, Strange Boy’s work is shaped by the streets, the characters, and the lived experiences of his youth. His music is raw, local, and unfiltered – a reflection of the people and places that shaped him.

“Fear begets more fear and so on and so on.”

Immortal is a deeply personal reflection on how early trauma can distort self-perception. Growing up with a sense of self-righteousness born from hardship, Strange Boy wrestled with the belief that suffering justified him, while quietly fearing that moments of goodness would inevitably be followed by adversity. At its core, the track celebrates gratitude – for survival, perspective, and the ability to transform experience into art.

“I’m incredibly grateful to have carved out a career in music. It’s a blessing, and I thank God and anyone who’s ever supported me for all of it.” – Strange Boy

“Rap, to me, is just storytelling in a modern tongue — the same fire, different form” he says. Irish culture sits at the heart of Strange Boy’s practice. He approaches rap as a modern seanchaí tradition – a contemporary form of storytelling rooted in oral history. Blending hip hop, spoken word, poetry, and Irish traditional music, he creates a sound often described as traditional Irish rap. Winning the Liam O’Flynn Award and performing at the National Concert Hall cemented a sense of legitimacy, while the release of his debut album Holy/Unholy crystallised his artistic identity. Sit up and listen to this rising talent.
