Ailbhe Reddy, one of Ireland’s most compelling indie artists, returns with new single ‘Align’, out today, September 9th, via on U.S. label, Don Giovanni Records.
With new single ‘Align’, Reddy delivers one of her most poignant works to date. Written in the aftermath of a breakup, it distils memory, grief and acceptance. Blending her diaristic lyricism with a quiet intensity, Reddy once again demonstrates her gift for making the personal feel universal.
Ailbhe Reddy says: “‘Align’ was the first song I wrote after a big break up. It grew out of a happy, nostalgic memory. The kind that repeats on you in the aftermath. The opening line, ‘I see you in the train window,’ is about that fleeting moment that keeps you seeing someone in everything long after they’re gone. From that single memory, the song spirals through a rush of moments shared, and ends at the point of letting go. At its core, it’s about acceptance — watching someone live their life from afar and hoping they’re happy. The lyric ‘time makes all things alright’ has always been a kind of mantra for me: grief doesn’t vanish, but time softens it, and eventually it makes space for gratitude and moving on.”
The single is released ahead of Reddy’s live show at The National Concert Hall, Dublin on September 20th, where an intimate audience will be among the first to hear Reddy’s new material live. Tickets are €20, available HERE.
