Dee Armstrong who is multi-instrumentalist, composer, and a vibrant force in Irish music scene and known as the fiddle player with the band Kila since the early 90s released her solo album ‘ Deichtine’s Daughter‘ at the beginning of March midway through her solo tour to promote said album and with the tour coming to an end she and her band featuring family and friends played a fantastic intimate show at Cleere’s Bar & Theater in Kilkenny.
With it being St Patricks weekend it was a perfect time and setting (as Kilkenny Tradfest is in full swing) for this show, Dee and co didn’t only play tracks form the album as those in attendance were treated to non album tunes also and some old trad tunes not on the set-list to finish out the night.
Between songs like The Prince of Laughter / Birch Wind / Django’s / Yon Do – Deichtine’s Daughter Dee told some great and funny anecdotes.
The set on the night consisted of twelve songs and then the added trad set at the end for those in attendance its a night that will be remembered and i think the two Americans that had only flown into Ireland only that day and came to Kilkenny for the weekend will not forget anytime soon.
