Audio-Visual maestro BAYNK made one of only five European stops on the Senescence World Tour in Dublin on Thursday. Fans lucky enough to have a ticket crammed into a sweaty Workmans Club for a night of infectious dance music.
The four to the floor pulse of “Grin” sent us off for the evening and everyone was dancing from the offset. The plucky synths, perfectly balanced kicks and deep, melodic basslines that litter BAYNK’s catalog make it impossible not to move. We got two renditions of BAYNK’s most popular track, ‘Go With U’ – both the remix at first and the original at the end of the set. The crowd resonated with every single track – BAYNK fans are all or nothing.
The improvisation from bassist Nicholas made the gig worth coming to alone for any casual fan and somehow gave the songs even more life than they already had. Despite not being able to cram the usual high production stage design into the intimate Workman’s room, the on-stage three piece made up for it by engaging the fans themselves and coming to the edge of the stage. All three would often step back behind the controls to perform the instrumental pieces, which packed just as much punch as the rest of the material.
It was both the incredibly dense catalog of danceable tracks BAYNK holds and the fan engagement that made the night what it was. BAYNK made comment online after the show about the electric crowd, a testament to the incredible night it was.
