As Moncrieff – releases the brand new single “Hard Feelings” today, you can read our review here

Moncrieff is done with the sad piano ballads—well, sort of. “Hard Feelings” marks a bold shift in sound for the Irish singer-songwriter, and if this is the direction he’s headed, we’re absolutely here for it.

In this track, Moncrieff takes all that post-breakup frustration and throws it onto a dance floor. It’s upbeat, it’s poppier than his usual work, but it still packs the raw emotion and lyrical punch that makes his music so relatable. The hook is an absolute earworm “I wish I could wish you well, I guess I’m just a little petty, I don’t want you to forget me”. The chorus will be stuck in your head for ages after you hear it and has already been used many times on social media. The lines “wish I could say no hard feelings, but since you said goodbye it’s been so hard breathing” spells out the underlying message behind the track.

He’s not just shaking things up sonically—his promo for this track has been just as unconventional. Playing small, intimate pop-up gigs across Berlin, London, Kilkenny, and Waterford, he’s been bringing the music straight to the people. Last night, his not-so-secret show at Waterford’s Apple Market drew a massive crowd, proving just how much buzz he’s generating right now.

Moncrieff himself calls “Hard Feelings” a turning point, a chance to take his project to another level beyond just sitting at a piano. And honestly? Mission accomplished. The song feels like a natural evolution—something fresh, exciting, and radio-ready without losing the heart that made fans fall in love with his music in the first place.

With big Irish shows in Limerick and Wexford later this year, this track is just the beginning of what looks like a huge year for Moncrieff. If “Hard Feelings” is any indication, he’s about to take things to an entirely new level.

With no hard feelings at all ‘Hard Feelings’ scores a nice 8.5 out of 10

Rating: 8.5 out of 10.
