Soulful pop artist Baba will bewitch audiences with her first show in four years on Thursday, 19 December at Little Whelans. Support on the night comes from alt-pop singer-songwriter Dee Fitz. Tickets are €15 + fees and available here.
Baba is a truly exceptional creative who lives and breathes her art. She has a unique perspective on the world and a deep connection to music, which she channels into her soulful and eclectic songwriting. Her live performances—including Electric Picnic, Castlepalooza and The Ruby Sessions—are captivating, leaving audiences gasping for more. Baba’s talent has not gone unnoticed, with her single ‘I Defy’ being included on the second edition of 100% Her, curated by Universal Production Music UK, which showcases contemporary songs written exclusively by women. 100% Her was mixed by Olga Fitzroy (Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Peter Gabriel) and mastered by Katie Tavini. ‘I Defy’ was also used by Film4 to promote their summer film range.
Baba, in collaboration with Enda Gallery and Welcome To The New World label, released her single ‘Truth’ in June 2023 and racked up nearly 10,000 views across the video on YouTube. ‘Truth’ is a deeply personal song that explores themes of self-discovery, self-acceptance, resilience and embracing one’s truth as a path to freedom. Baba’s latest track ‘Apollo’, released in February 2024, is a deeply emotional and introspective song, exploring themes of loss, heartache, resilience and hope. ‘Apollo’ was written after Lynch lost her son during the second trimester of pregnancy in 2023, a profoundly tragic experience which left her grappling with overwhelming grief and pain.
Baba is a force to be reckoned with in the Irish music scene, arming herself with emotionally honest lyrics and her dulcet vocals.
