Today, Italian-born, London-based rising star Sans Soucis (they/them) shares new single ‘Dancing on This’, from upcoming debut album ‘Circumnavigating Georgia’, due October 9th.
As Sans Soucis’ vocals breeze over the track’s rhythmic bassline we see the singer celebrate the uplifting power of chosen family. Speaking on ‘Dancing on This’, Sans Soucis says: Fantasising was a major part of my upbringing. Whilst it alienated me from the outside world, obsessing over Beyonce, Rihanna and Jlo, it helped me survive the most unfavourable environments. Now this song has become a dedication to the community of people I chose as my family here in London, and the joy, inspiration and love they bring to my life.
‘Dancing on This’ follows on from ‘Brave’, which sees Sans Soucis embracing their queer identity, ‘If I Let A White Man Cut My Hair’, the musician’s ode to Black communities and sweat-soaked ‘Sexed &Sexual’. Circumnavigating Georgia will see the writer and producer Sans Soucis take us through their coming of age and the reclamation of their identity, tearing apart systemic patriarchy and anti-blackness that’s impacted their life. Each track on the album is set to introduce the audience to a new sonic palette, influenced by both the music and personal experiences from Sans Soucis’ teenage and early adulthood.
