Midnight Wayne – at The Sludge Club, Lost Lane Dublin 25.07.2024

Midnight Wayne has taken his throne back on top the stage after a good few years absent.

Former lead singer of the Hot Sprockets has been waiting patiently for the right moment to emerge from his musical cave in which he carved himself. Along with some fellow musicians, the band have been working away in the magical world of synths, bongos, samples old school mics, peace, love and rock and roll in which Wayne has created out his back garden. A wondrous place to be, no doubt, when you want to fall into a psychedelic spiral of notations and vibrations.

I met Wayne last year in his home town Crumlin and we shot some stills on my 1957 medium format camera, creating a beautiful 70’s vibe in the local park and just vibing off each other! Such a down to earth dude with an incredible passion for music.

You could feel the emotion on the night as it was his first gig in such a while, the stage opened its arms and embraced every minute of it. And the crowd soaked it all in.

A beautiful night, and I cannot wait for his headliner in November.

Shout out to the guys over at Sludge Club who have started a monthly event showcasing the talent Dublin has on offer.

Last night felt like a flash back to the past as if we were all having pints in the Sweeney Mongrel and everything was ok again.

You can attend the Sludge Club every last Thursday of each month over in Lost Lane, Grafton Street.
