Lisa Keane is a singer/songwriter based in Dublin. She began songwriting at the age of 13 after discovering a music course for teens that focused on songwriting, recording, and performance. This course sparked her interest in songwriting, and she has been writing her own songs ever since. Lisa draws inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift and Griff, blending elements from different genres to create her own distinctive sound.
Lisa has received support from BBC Across the Line, FM104, RTE Entertainment, The Last Mixed Tape, and Hot Press. Spin 1038 named her ‘One to Watch’ following the release of her third single “Run”. Her single ‘this is how it feels’ was featured as Laura Fox’s RTE 2FM ‘track of the week’.
“I have always loved music and singing since a young age. As a kid, I would put on home concerts for my family and make them listen to me singing and dancing around to Britney Spears songs. I began songwriting around the age of 13 after my Mam brought me to record a cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘White Horse’ at Contact Studios for my birthday. At the studio, I learnt about a music course called Suburban Sounds that they run for teenagers. The course is focused around songwriting and live performance. This really kick-started my interest in songwriting and I’m so grateful that I got the opportunity to take part in Suburban Sounds during my secondary school years.”
ABOUT THE TRACK
Lisa’s new single ‘Chasing Ghosts’ will be released on the 12th of July.
‘Chasing Ghosts’ is an up-beat pop song. The song was produced by Irish
producer Sam Stevenson, who also mixed the track. This is the 5th time the
pair have worked together. The vocals for the song were recorded in Belfast,
where Sam is based.
The production of ‘Chasing Ghosts’ was influenced by
artists such as Griff and Robyn. Some songs that stood out during the
production phase as reference tracks included ‘Dancing on my Own’, ‘Call
your Girlfriend’ and ‘Vertigo’. It was mastered by Fergal Davis.
The song was inspired by a recent breakup and the feelings that arise from
having to go back into the world alone after being with someone for a long
time. While the music is upbeat, the lyrics explore the themes of heartbreak
and loneliness.
“I wanted to create a song that people could dance away their feelings to.
Even though the lyrics are sad. It can be euphoric to take those sad feelings
and create something upbeat and energetic. In a way it’s taking the negative
energy that comes from a break-up and turning it into something positive.”
