Meg Elsier – releases her phenomenal debut album ”spittake” _ the video to ”LA”

Nashville-based singer-songwriter meg elsier releases her phenomenal debut album, spittake. Accompanying the album release is the release of the music video for focus single, ‘LA’. You can watch the video below.

Throughout spittake, meg elsier epitomises indie-rock with alt-pop overtones. As one of the most promising and compelling up-and-coming figures within the indie scene today, meg traverses the line between tranquility and raw turbulent emotion, incorporating everything from sumptuous vocals and enveloping melodies to grungy guitars and heavy production.

Alongside the album release is the music video for focus single ‘LA’. On ‘LA’, meg elsier creates an endlessly atmospheric track. Enlisting distorted production, the track swells throughout the senses, creating an opulent aesthetic that is engaging and tranquil in equal measures.. The stunning music video was directed by Jacq Justice and is available to watch below.

Speaking about the ‘LA’ music video, meg elsier said:

“‘LA’ to me has always been this dramatic, atmospheric, otherworldly song from the album. I call it my airplane song because I love the length and the tones, and it is so visual that I can zone out and make a world in my head. So when making this video, Jacqueline Justice, Mary Violet Woosley, and I really wanted to lean into the beauty of theatrics. We were in the lovely Palace Theatre in downtown Gallatin with incredible dancers from Nashville’s Garage Collective. We wanted to play with the idea of performing all the time in life, of getting confused where the character stops and you begin or if there’s even a difference. With ‘LA’ being one of the most honest songs on the record, I think the simplicity in action and heavy emphasis on performance really heighten that honesty. We’re not trying to mask things, just trying to act them out like they are in my head.”

Speaking about spittake, meg elsier said:

“The creation of ‘spittake’ was the biggest and scariest thing that I’ve done. It’s something I built up and something that seemed somewhat impossible to even imagine how to achieve. But it happened! Ryan McFadden and I made this record by getting to know each other’s intentions and taste, and just brain processes. To be honest, I don’t think I knew what the record meant to me or what I wanted to create until it was done. I know I wanted to record an album because I felt proud of these songs and I really was craving for people to hear them. What I really was searching for was an introduction as… meg. Not someone I’m mirroring, or someone I’ve been trying to become. Just who I am genuinely at this moment.”
