Boundary-breaking alternative artist YINYANG has released her tenacious new single, ‘Think About It’ today, May 21st.
YINYANG performs at Forbidden Fruit festival on Sunday, 30th May on the Happy Days Stage.
YINYANG will support Chicago rap artist Cupcakke on Sunday, 7th June at The Academy, Dublin.
Forged in Belfast’s underground music scene, YINYANG’s sonic world is one of fierce autonomy and blistering cool, with the genre-defying artist praised by CLOUT as “one of the most distinctive and exciting artists in recent memory” and hailed by CLASH as “a force to be reckoned with.” Equal parts cult figure, storyteller and visionary, she creates music that feels intimate, stylish and transformative, with an aim to to awaken as much as entertain.
The past eighteen months have marked a string of major moments for YINYANG; Heavy hitter support slots with the likes of Gurriers, The Scratch, Meryl Streek, YARD, Fat Dog alongside a UK tour with Shelf Lives, her collaborative track ‘Ecdysis’ with YARD appearing in a major sync in the Nicolas Cage film, The Surfer, and ‘Ones To Watch’ recognition from the Irish Independent, Whelan’s and Goldec Plec (Plec Picks) for 2026.
New single ‘Think About It’ channels empowerment, freedom, and self-assurance through YINYANG’s signature punk-edged hip-hop, laced with dark electronics. Drawing on the raw energy of ’90s underground rave culture, she steps into a more fully realised creative era: Unfiltered, fearless, and rooted in a feminine yet formidable, punk-fuelled aesthetic shaped by inner transformation.
YINYANG says “‘Think About It’ is about freedom and mental liberation in a world designed to keep people small, distracted, doubtful and disconnected from themselves. It explores the freedom to express yourself and move how you want without fear, reclaiming your power, and what it feels like to actually try and do that. Use the track as a mirror to reflect your own personal power.”
Suspended between the worlds of Doechii, Slayyter, and The Prodigy, ‘Think About It’ carries YINYANG’s ethos of “gritty optimism”; a defiant joy that drives her vision of bold, uninhibited expression even further.
