TUK SMITH & THE RESTLESS HEARTS have delivered a special reimagined ballad version of ‘Little Renegade’. On this track, Tuk Smith trades in his signature good-time rock ‘n’ roll swagger for stripped-back vulnerability. Originally appearing on their latest album Rogue To Redemption, which was released on 30th August 2024 via Gypsy Rose Records, the twinkly pianos and soft melodies gives this track a whole new look that’s sure to pull on the heart strings.
On the song’s reimagining, frontman Tuk Smith comments,
“I posted a minute-long snippet online of me sitting at the piano doing a version of ‘Little Renegade’, and I got so many messages from people telling me they would love to hear a full version. So I thought it would be a cool project, and maybe a bit of a challenge to strip it back and re-imagine it.”
He continues: “This is the first song I’ve ever done without a single guitar track on it. I used my old 70s upright piano and an analog synth from the early 80s for this. Then I took some real drums from another recording session and built loops and ended up having a lot of fun with this one. It’s got elements of a 70s piano ballad, an 80s pop banger, with a little more modern production with an orchestral feel.”
