total tommy – shares new single ‘ADELINE’

Buzzy new Sydney/Eora artist total tommy today returns with new single, ADELINE. Despite the infancy of the project, critical support has been overwhelming: NME  i-D, The Times, Clash, DIY have all lent praise. And at radio, there has been support from Steve Lamaq and Nathan Shepherd on 6Music, and Alyx Holcome on Radio 1 as well as Matt Wilkinson at Apple Radio.

On ADELINE, total tommy addresses her teenage self in her worst moments, and vows that things will get better: “I need to remind you / You don’t have to do this anymore.” In true total tommy fashion, the song is quietly, overwhelmingly stirring; it feels like being struck at some random moment, maybe when you’re a little intoxicated with some people you love, that you’ve come a long way. Meaningfully, she co-wrote this one with her wife.

On the new single, total tommy says –

“ADELINE was written on a trip to Melbourne earlier this year. I was feeling really nostalgic about being back in my hometown, and wrote ADELINE as a bit of a letter to my teenage self, and the advice I’d give her now. It’s about finding that ignition and getting better at being able to shut off all of the noise your brain makes”
