London rockers Tokyo Taboo are set to soar (pun intended) into playlists and headphones around the UK and beyond with their uplifting new single WINGS. Born from a place of negativity and awful behaviour from people in authority who really should know and be better, WINGS is about rising above these kinds of acts, transforming yourself into a stronger, bolder person as part of the process.
WINGS was recorded at Longwave Studios with the legendary Romesh Dodangoda who has produced British rock and metal royalty ranging from Bring Me The Horizon and Nova Twins to Funeral For A Friend and The Blackout.
Please check out the lyric video for WINGS below. You might notice the aerialist in the lyric video – that is none other than Tokyo Taboo’s own Dolly Daggerz who is a trained aerialist and decided to put her skills to good for the video!
Delving into the motivations and life experiences that powered WINGS a bit more, here is Tokyo Taboo frontwoman Dolly Daggerz:
“Smear campaigns ultimately backfire when you don’t respond to the bullies and instead go deeper into the truth of who you are. You can use their hate as fuel and rise so high above it that no-one can say anything that bothers you anymore. Words just ricochet because you sit comfortably in your own truth. There’s real strength in knowing who you are and becoming unbothered by those who are continually intent on misunderstanding you.“
WINGS is the first single to surface from Tokyo Taboo’s upcoming new album – more details of that to come in the weeks and months ahead.
There are a couple of chances coming soon to hear WINGS in the flesh, as well as other favourites from the Tokyo Taboo catalogue. Firstly on June 13th they are part of the LOUD WOMEN Rock n Pole event at Dalton’s in Brighton. That is followed up by the Pride Rock Festival at London’s iconic Bush Hall where Tokyo Taboo will be part of a fantastic line up that is topped up by headliner Cassyette.
Tokyo Taboo Live:
