Belfast meets Detroit! Internationally renowned, multi-award winning transatlantic collective the olllam have been announced for All we Have are Days in Limerick this coming Brigid’s Weekend. The band hit Limerick fresh from sold out shows at Dublin’s Vicar Street, Belfast’s Mandela Hall, London’s Earth Theatre and a hugely successful U.S. tour, including a guest appearance at Coachella. They play a 6pm show at Limerick’s Theatre Royal on Bank Holiday Monday, February 2nd. Tickets for the concert are priced at €25 + booking fee and are now available from allwehavearedays.com. This show is subject to licence.

Led by John McSherry (uilleann pipes, whistles) and Joe Dart (bass), the line-up includes Michael Shimmin on drums, Ross Ainslie on whistles, Limerick’s Sean O’Meara on guitar and Joe Hettinga on keys. Their sound blends Irish traditional music with Detroit’s psychedelic post-rock energy: deep, rhythmic, and melodic. It is rooted in tradition but reaches into bold, cinematic territory.

the olllam’s self-titled debut album won the 2012 Indie Acoustic Music Award for Best Instrumental Album, while their follow up album elllegy saw the band named Best Folk Group at the RTE Radio 1 Folk Awards in 2022.

the olllam play the city’s unique Theatre Royal, a classic cinema venue lying unused in the city for 30 years, before recent renovations allowed it to open as a pop-up venue for the Joanne Ryan play ‘Connie’. The historic venue was previously the city’s primary cinema and concert location, welcoming Irish and international artists every week, and drawing audiences from across the city, county and province.

It’s been a focus of the Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, to have the Theatre used and active in the city. He added: “I absolutely want the Theatre Royal to once again serve as a vibrant cultural hub in the heart of Limerick, with scope for theatre, community use, and creative projects that will breathe new life into our city centre.”

the olllam’s performance is the sole show in the Theatre Royal across the festival, adding a very Limerick edge to the weekend, before the festival closes with ØXN and Anna B Savage in John’s Church that Monday evening. the olllam at Theatre Royal is subject to licence.

All we Have are DaysLimerick’s festival of music and conversation, runs Friday January 30th to Monday February 2nd inclusive. See allwehavearedays.com for schedule and tickets. All we Have are Days is in partnership with Guinness, Limerick City & County Council Mayoral Fund, Bus Eireann, Absolute Hotel and Film in Limerick.
