Spencer Sutherland / Simon Thompson – The Drama Tour, live at The Workman’s Cellar Dublin 12.01.2025

The Workmans Cellar’s doors were to open at 7.30pm and I arrived at the venues for 7.20 and found an already very large queue of fans, some of which had been queuing since 5.30pm to get in to this sold-out show, which is was the starting date for Spencer’s European leg of his The Drama Tour.

Opening for Spencer was Simon Thompson, Simon usually plays with the South Yorkshire indie pop band Alvarez Kings, on this outing thought its just Simon armed with a guitar playing the bands tunes and said tunes do a nice job warming up the jammed venue.

When it came to Spencer’s time, man he hit the stage like a blot of lightning even with this show just being an acoustic evening. Spencer was accompany by one of his band members on acoustic guitar and this took nothing away from Spencer’s Glam Rock tunes as he said himself ” just because its acoustic, doesnt mean that they are not going to rock it out! and that they did for the night.
