Having spent more than two decades building an international career across songwriting, composition, production, television, film and advertising, O’Dowda is now turning his attention back to original music-making, reconnecting with his Irish roots and developing a new body of work from his home in Manchester,UK.
His work has been featured in Netflix’s Dark, Ginny & Georgia and Formula 1: Drive to Survive, alongside campaigns for IKEA, Boots and Stella Artois. He has also co-written with renowned producers CamelPhat and Massano, with his solo material receiving support from Guy Garvey and BBC Radio 6 Music, including a live session with Marc Riley. To date, O’Dowda’s catalogue has amassed over 100 million streams and uses worldwide.
Releasing September 17th, ‘Like New’ arrives as the first step in the artist’s next chapter. Self-produced, the single features Manchester-based singer and electronic artist IORA, whose rich vocals and cinematic approach to songwriting gives the release a multidimensional feel
O’Dowda says:
“‘Like New’ is loosely about understanding how it can sometimes be difficult to make meaningful changes in your life, and embracing that uneasy feeling you get when you venture out of your comfort zone.”
The single marks a new era for O’Dowda,, bringing together his seasoned experience in songwriting and production with his desire to musically reconnect with his Irish roots after much time spent abroad. Offering a glimpse into a yet-to-be-announced body of work, the single marks a new high point of an established career across music, television and film.
