Skinship – releases his second single “I Make Me Wanna Go Dancing With Me”

London-based musician SKINSHIP today invites himself to go dancing (with himself) to the release of his second single “I Make Me Wanna Go Dancing With Me”.

Following the release of his debut single Cruiser, SKINSHIP has delivered yet another bombastic alt-pop journey through time together with producer Clarence Clarity [Rina Sawayama, Dorian Electra].

SKINSHIP on “I Make Me Wanna Go Dancing With Me”:

“Is about self-love in hostile waters, the pep talk you give yourself in front of the mirror to steel your nerves, the embracing of possibility and releasing the shackles of self-limitation. I’ve always erred on the side of self-deprecation in my lyrics so as not to appear like a smug cunt, but sometimes you just got to accept that you’re HIM and get on with things with swaggering intentions.”

“The inception of the song came from a beat I made in my mum’s spare room in California over the Christmas break of 2024 and I cold dm-ed Clarence Clarity with the demo. I wanted it to sound like a head-on sports car collision between Nine Inch Nails and George Michael. 

Clarence loved it and so began the real beginning of SKINSHIP proper and my collaboration with the aforementioned wizard of noise.

The video was shot in Seoul in September by the Korean K-pop virtuoso AFF (In-teh Kim) over the course of one day. We were threatened by a farmer with a spade after the first take of the tunnel firework scene because we were making too much noise. It was 3am and we didn’t get permission. Fair enough.”
