Alt-pop and electronic duo SISTRA release their new single, ‘Things I Really Mean’, out now via AWAL. It is their first new music since their 2024 EP, Between My Shoulder Blades, and it marks the start of a new era for the band. The single was produced by longtime Charli xcx collaborator Jon Shave, and it is accompanied by a music video which is available to watch below.
‘Things I Really Mean’ premiered on Jess Iszatt’s BBC Radio 1 show, and SISTRA are also set to be Ticketmasters Artist of the Month.
On ‘Things I Really Mean’, SISTRA take a sonical shift from their currently released music, as they incorporate more avant-pop, art-pop, and hyper-pop aesthetics, leaning into electronic sounds and exploring new depths to their music. The production is flawless, embracing influences from a wide spectrum of genres. The track signifies a new era for the duo as they demonstrate why they are one of the most exciting artists on the scene today.
Speaking about ‘Things I Really Mean’, Sasha Briggs from SISTRA said:
“‘Things I Really Mean’ is essentially my sister telling me how she fell in love for the first time. We’ve always written for and about each other, but this song feels more confronting. We’re venturing beyond the safety of our relationship as sisters, and we don’t know what that looks like. There’s a danger we might not be able to let each other go.”
SISTRA have been included within The Great Escapes First 50 and are set to play OSLO in London on Thursday 13th November. They will also play the main festival in Brighton, 13th – 16th May 2026.
SISTRA are a London-based alt-pop duo made up of sisters Sasha and Sylvie Briggs. With an eclectic sound, their music oscillates between influences such as MUNA and Charli xcx, Oklou, and Caroline Polacheck. SISTRA have one of the freshest and most invigorating sounds on the scene today, and they are set to be one of the most exciting bands in the UK for years to come. Stay tuned for more new music and news in the coming months.
