Rainbow Kitten Surprise have unveiled a new single entitled “Espionage” available today via Atlantic Records, streaming on all platforms now.
The band initially teased the track as their official walkout theme during last year’s Love Hate Music Box Tour, giving crowds a taste of this “anti-love anthem.” Fans clamored for its proper release online, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise have delivered by reworking and officially recording “Espionage” just in time for Valentine’s Day.
RKS frontperson Ela Melo explains, “’Espionage’ is a deep cut representative of our time and work with Daniel Tashian. It was one of the tracks that helped start off the Love Hate Music Box recordings. I was so nauseous that I wrote it and sang it while laying on the floor the first time we recorded it. We decided to revisit it in October 2024 to show fans what we were up to. Hope you enjoy.”
The song’s laidback beat underlines piano-laden verses. Meanwhile, a funky guitar riff struts beneath the chantable chorus, “Everything gets hard. This is espionage. I spy your heart breaking.” The song effectively doubles as a bridge into the band’s next musical era, nodding to the genre alchemy they’re known for while also creatively forging ahead again.
Be on the lookout for a special visual to accompany the track in the coming weeks.
