Music Reviews

Post-Punk, Gothic Indie Rock artist pMad – just recently released the single ”Feed” take a read of our review.

Possibly the best county in Ireland, Galway has a special hold on my heart. So I have an extra perk in my mood as I’m listening and writing about pMad. Hailing from Portumna, Galway, Paul Dillon is the soul behind the music. A dark, gothic take on the best parts of the 1970’s/80’s New Wave, Post Punk genres.

‘FEED’ is the latest single after the release of their last album ‘I In Power’ in 2024.

Starting off almost as a Viking war cry, you can feel the tension from the very beginning of this track. It invokes a smouldering hold on ones imagination as we drift along a single note that glides like the movement of a bow across a Violin. Legato Bowing, but make it Synth.

This track just keeps building and building, and pMad’s voice is a haunting character that follows along.

After a huge success in the release of his last single ‘Sisters’, pMad is certainly one to watch out for. I can already hear this blasting live from the Olympia Speakers. Sisters has such a good groove that traps your head into a bopping motion that you don’t want to be released from.

It’s giving me a flash back to Donaghmede’s, SACCADE, and their larger than life track, MUFF. Pulsating drum beat, tight hats, and that striking guitar and bass THUMP!

Paul seems like a sound lad too, a real love for the music and a genuine appreciation for his fans.

The goth, New Wave vibes have been big in Ireland over the last couple of years now.

Another creator of the genre, BLOODINWATER, released an absolutely beautiful album back in 2022, which was the first to prick my ears to these sounds coming out of Ireland.

It just goes to show that there is no genre that the Irish can’t put their finger in and absolutely master it.

‘FEED’ is a track that could have landed on a Sister’s Of Mercy album.

If you enjoy a smack of nostalgia on the weekends and bands like The Cult, Echo and the Bunnyman Eurythmics, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and Joy Division, then your gonna want to throw this latest track by pMad on to your speakers.

”Feed” is awarded 6 out of 10 stars.

Rating: 6 out of 10.
