Manchester singer-songwriter Pip Millett has today shared her brand new single ‘Mad’, the second release in a trilogy of new singles.
Pip also recently announced details of a stripped-back intimate tour starting later this month, including a hometown show at Manchester’s Locker on October 13th and two SOLD OUT nights at London’s Hoxton Hall on October 14th and 15th, as well as dates in Paris, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin and Cologne. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
‘Mad’ puts Pip’s flawless, crystal-clear vocals front-and-centre and is another striking display of her signature powerful narrative lyricism. The track finds Pip making sense of an ending, letting her vocals expel the emotional intensity while wrapped in a delicate swathe of gentle strings. Speaking on the single, Pip says, “I wrote most of this song at home before taking it to the studio. I wasn’t sure about putting it out as it felt very fresh to my situation, and truthfully, I wasn’t really over the ache I was writing about. I wrote this when I felt confused and disposed of. I imagine there’s a lot of people that can relate to that feeling.”
New single ‘Mad’ and previous single ‘Soon Enough’ mark Pip’s first new music since the release of her acclaimed 2022 debut album When Everything Is Better, I’ll Let You Know and 2024 EP Tell Jimmy I’m Fine, which cemented Pip as one of the UK’s most distinctive and exciting contemporary voices. Her quietly commanding, emotionally charged neo-soul has won over legions of fans worldwide with over 1.5M global listeners on Spotify alone, despite not having released any new music since 2024.
Pip has earned swathes of editorial support at press from the likes of Dazed, The Guardian, Notion, Hunger, Clash, Glamcult, Wonderland, The Line Of Best Fit, Schön and more. On the airwaves, she has garnered praise from key tastemakers at national radio stations such as BBC Radio 1, 6 Music, BBC 1Xtra, Apple Music 1, KISS, Capital Xtra and in 2021 she also appeared on Later…With Jools Holland.
Born and raised in Manchester, Pip Millett cites icons like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Joni Mitchell as key songwriting influences. She released her debut single ‘Make Me Cry’ in 2018 to international acclaim, with the track sitting at over 40M streams on Spotify and a live version for COLORS currently at an astonishing 8.4M views. She has since collaborated and lent her vocals to tracks with artists such as Gotts Street Park, Mariah The Scientist, Chase & Status, Strandz and more.
