Peach Pit played to a sold-out 3Olympia Theatre on Monday evening. The Vancouver indie-pop darlings delivered a set that packed a punch.
The band lined the rear of the stage while each member took their turn to descend down onto the front row. Frontman Neil Smith swayed his way through the set with that trademark sleepy-sad vocal tone that somehow makes heartbreak feel nostalgic, instead of bitter… Guitarist Chris Vanderkooy’s solos were a real standout – his clean, reverb-drenched riffs served on nearly every track.
The set – or free therapy session if you will, was only not long enough… but maybe that’s the magic of Peach Pit – they leave you wanting more. Slightly sad in the best way, like the last day of summer break…
Support on the night came from Briston Maroney. There was a huge response to their biggest hit, “Freakin’ Out On the Interstate”.
