Paul Noonan and Brian Crosby, long-time friends and musicians, will soon embark on a national tour to intimate venues across the country. See them at the Spirit Store, Dundalk (April 18), Greenacres, Wexford (April 19 – SOLD OUT), Connolly’s of Leap, West Cork (April 25), The White Horse, Ballincollig (April 26 – SOLD OUT), and Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire (April 30).
Paul and Brian collaborated for the first time in 16 years since Brian’s departure from Bell X1 and released a new single, My Bones a Scaffold, in late 2024.
Originally an instrumental piano piece on Crosby’s debut solo piano record Imbrium, Noonan heard the track and felt drawn to respond to it lyrically – and a sort of musical conversation began. The emotional responses and creative conversations that have emerged from this project have been impactful for all involved, and now Noonan and Crosby and bringing their renewed musical partnership to live audiences.
Brian will open each evening with a set of atmospheric piano music, followed by a solo set from Paul of songs from across his projects. They’ll then play some early Bell X1 songs together, with some new material they’ve been working on, offering a first listen to their ongoing creative collaboration.
Having first met in school, they formed first the band Juniper (with Damien Rice)and subsequently BellX1. Both musicians have gone on to have eclectic and varied musical careers – Noonan with BellX1 as well solo projects Printer Clips and HousePlants (with the electronic musician Daithí), and Crosby as a collaborator on numerous film and TV scores as well as his own solo piano work.
