Oni – share new single ‘Realign’ co-produced by Josh Gilbert (Spiritbox) & reveal new EP ‘Genesis’

Following his recent tour with Pop Evil and Bad Wolves and a steady stream of alternative metal bangers this year, Canadian metal visionary ONI will kick off 2025 with a new EP, Genesis, due out January 24th.

Founding mastermind Jake Oni has revealed a new single and lyric video called “Realign,” which was co-produced by him and Josh Gilbert (Spiritbox). For his latest track, Oni is leaving the lyrical interpretation to listeners, stating, “I want the fans to decide what this song means to them, this is a personal song to me.”

ONI‘s EP follow-up to 2023’s acclaimed record The Silver Line will feature 5 tracks including the new single “Realign,” recent tracks “Deja Vu,” “Walk Away, and “Control” plus the unreleased song “Erase.”

Genesis Tracklist:
1. Erase
2. Realign
3. Deja Vu
4. Walk Away
5. Control

Formed in 2014 by vocalist Jake Oni, ONI quickly became one of Canada’s most promising artists with their distinct amalgam of experimental progressive songwriting, brute metalcore savagery and cathartic melody. The five-piece roared to life with the release of their 2016 debut album, Ironshore (Metal Blade Records), which was produced by Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Korn, Dillinger Escape Plan) and featured guest vocals by Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe on the song, The Only Cure.’

ONI followed up with a monstrous Alone EP in 2019, and returned with their critically lauded second full-length, Loathing Light in 2022, that boasted guests Iggy Pop and Blythe on the song Secrets and ‘Heart To Stone,‘ which was featured on Spotify’s Best of Kickass Metal 2022 playlist.

2023 was ONI‘s biggest and most pivotal year yet, and saw the release of their third full-length album, The Silver Line. Dynamic but still cohesive, the LP was produced, mixed, and mastered by the duo of Spiritbox bassist Josh Gilbert and Joe McQueen (As I Lay Dying, Light The Torch, Bad Wolves). The Silver Line is as ambitious as it is catchy and incisive – pushing the metalcore genre forward into the light of mainstream accessibility, enormous hooks fused with colossal riffs and catchy melodies. A quick perusal of the guests featured on ONI’s third album reveals the wide range of their appeal. “Silence In a Room of Lies” pairs ONI with YouTuber and musician Jared Dines. “Underneath My Skin” features Sleeping With Sirens frontman Kellin Quinn. “Aura” boasts Gilbert and ex-Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones. Pop-punk-resurgence star Sueco lends his voice to “Spark.” The Silver Line upped the ante once more, adding another full-length chapter to ONI’s ever-expanding songbook.
