London based 3-piece Night Tapes today share new single Swim, out now via Nettwerk Music Group.
Their first new music since their critically acclaimed debut album portals/polarities – the band will play select shows through the UK and USA this summer (full dates below). The album received widespread critical acclaim from the likes of NME, DIY, Notion, Wonderland, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash plus sustained support at BBC Radio1. The record culminated in a euphoric sold-out show at London’s Village Underground. The band have also just returned from a hugely successful worldwide tour alongside The Neighbourhood. The new single is taken from a brand new deluxe version of their album ‘portals/polarities’ – set for release July 24th. Pre-order here
On ‘Swim’ the band say –
“Might as well turn on the light when there is a lion in the room and if it’s too scary to look at it straight on, glance at it from 45 degrees. it’s a long process to know thyself.”
Three electronic producers with a penchant for analogue, Night Tapes exist in a world that is dreamy and widescreen with plenty of bite. Traditional song structures often handbrake turn into dissonant noise or extended ambient sections, blurring the lines between band and studio project in new and exciting ways.
