Newshapes – have revealed their latest single ‘Falling Away’

Ahead of their headline UK dates, Scottish four-piece newshapes reveal their latest single, falling away, out now via LAB Records.

Drawing inspiration from the more introspective moments of Blink-182, My Chemical Romance and Dashboard Confessional, the track is self-produced by newshapes and mixed by Zach Jones (Scene Queen, Maggie Lindemann, Nova Twins, South Arcade, Fever 333). falling away is an emo-inflected track that captures the longing for “a little bit of something” that can give you the clarity and reassurance that you are on the right path and not missing out on your own life. The song follows on from the previous single baptise, and as a band who have never confined themselves to one genre, the new track sees the band lean into the slightly softer, mid-2000s influences they grew up with. The track is accompanied by the official music video, which sees singer Ian Mann perform the track amongst varied lighting setups. The video can be seen here

Speaking of their recent releases, newshapes said, “falling away continues the new story that ‘baptise’ started for us, in more than one way. 2025 saw us face our biggest challenges yet and come out stronger and louder than ever before, and we look at 2026 as our chance to prove that we have what it takes to ‘fly the flag’ for alternative music from Scotland. As a band, we are proud that no two songs in our catalogue sound the same. Our music shares that desire to constantly evolve and never let ourselves become predictable, and we’ve taken that to a new level with everything that’s coming. There’s such a growing space for heavy music in today’s world, and we’re always looking to push the boundaries where rock, pop and metal collide – to bring people with different tastes, backgrounds and lived experiences together under one roof.”

On March 21st, newshapes will headline Downstairs at The Dome in London, followed by shows in Manchester on 22nd March and Edinburgh on 28th March, before they head out on a huge 14-date tour across the UK and Europe with Canadian band never easy. In 2025, they sold out their debut headline shows, including iconic venues such as King Tut’s in Glasgow and The Black Heart in London.

newshapes are quickly becoming one of the UK’s most promising forces in heavy-hitting alternative music. Signing to LAB Records, last year’s sophomore EP, a conversation with myself, has now amassed over a million streams on Spotify alone. With their first release of 2026 surpassing 10,000 streams in under 48 hours, newshapes show no signs of slowing down.
