Michael McGovern – Kicks off Irish & UK Headline Tour This Week

Glasgow-born alternative folk artist Michael McGovern – who has just been longlisted for Album of the Year at the Scottish Album of the Year Awards – kicks off his fourteen-date tour across Ireland & the UK this Thursday:

After a series of viral moments, including actor Paul Mescal recommending  breakout song ‘Evelyn’ in an interview with BAZAAR, McGovern’s music has reached audiences worldwide, surpassing 2 million album streams.

Rapidly emerging as one of contemporary folk’s most compelling new voices, his poetic lyrics and intricate fingerpicking style has earned him extensive acclaim across the BBC (Album of the Week), RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ Lyric FM, Hot Press, Americana UK and more.

Sophomore album Thin White Road expanded his folk roots into a rich, cinematic sound of full-band arrangements, layered harmonies, saxophone and strings, which has translated beautifully to the stage.

Based between Glasgow and Co. Cork, the Autumn tour sees McGovern make his highly anticipated return to both sides of the Irish Sea.
