Lexie Liu – teams up with K-pop sensation Yves to redefine what it means to be a ‘pop girl’

Lexie Liu teams up with K-pop sensation Yves to redefine what it means to be a ‘pop girl’

Launching the remix “Pop Girl (with Yves)” from her upcoming EP Pop Girls Club (22 July), Lexie Liu encourages listeners to embrace our “different backgrounds” in true pop girl style. “It’s about not fitting into one definition of pop femininity, but showing how many different versions of it can exist,” she says.

Together, the duo bring a collaborative and introspective lens to the project. Last week, Lexie announced that she will release their collaborative EP, Pop Girls Club, leading with anthemic lead single “Pop Girl (with Yves)”.

Pop Girls Club follows Lexie’s immensely popular catalogue. Her music transcends conventional categorisation. The singer’s breakthrough songs “X”, “Magician” and ‘Pop Girl’ which introduced audiences to her fusion sound, with songs seamlessly flipping between English and Mandarin. Lexie’s momentum continued with the release of the 2025 EP Teenage Ramble, which earned early co-signs from tastemakers CLASH, Metal Magazine and Puss Puss MagazineSchön praised Lexie as a singer who has “carved her own sonic universe, merging rap, pop and indie grit with unflinching vulnerability.”

Pop Girls Club came together over 12 months and across several cities, with Yves based in South Korea, Isabella Lovestory across Canada and America, and BAYLI based in New York. Despite being apart, each artist brought their distinct flair and creativity to the project – showing how one idea can evolve into completely different worlds.

Speaking on the collaboration, Lexi said, “Pop Girl has always been about embracing contradiction; you can feel confident and insecure all at once. These remixes celebrate that idea from different perspectives and hopefully everyone can find a version that speaks to them.”

She added, “I wanted each artist to have the freedom to reinterpret it in their own way. I was excited to hear what “Pop Girl” sounded like through their lens. Yves, Isabella Lovestory and Bayli all have such distinct artistic identities, and they’re genuinely artists I listen to and admire myself. As a fan, it was really fun to hear their voices inside the “Pop Girl” universe.”

Pop Girls Club tracklist as follows:

1. Pop Girl (with Yves)

2. Pop Girl (with BAYLI & Isabella Lovestory)

The EP is out now via Platoon and is available on all streaming sites HERE.
