Kelsey Lu – has released their new album ‘So Help Me God’ along side acompanying short film

So Help Me God’ is Lu’s most expansive work to date. Co-produced by Lu, Jack Antonoff and Yves Rothman, the record moves through devotion, desire, grief and transcendence; each collapsing into the next. The record includes recently released ‘Cutting Off The Head Of A Ghost‘, as well as ‘Comfort‘, ‘Running To Pain‘, ‘Portrait Of A Lady On Fire‘ and ‘Better Than That‘ featuring Sampha.

Accompanying the album is a short film co-created with BAFTA-winning director Savanah Leaf – starring French actor Garance Marillier and shot by photographer Yumna Al-Arashi. More than a visual companion, it forms an inseparable part of the work itself; extending ‘So Help Me God’ into a unified world where music, fine art and culture meet.

Filmed across the stark, volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, Lu drew visual inspiration from Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro – bodies surfacing from darkness, divinity rendered in flesh and bruises. The piece traces a toxic relationship in collapse; the push and pull of intimacy laid bare – how it takes shape, and how it all comes undone. The short film has already drawn international attention, screening at the Venice BiennalePolygon, and the Regent Street Theatre in London, and featured as part of the DEMO Festivalat the New Museum in New York – where Lu and Leaf joined a conversation moderated by Yelena Keller.

Speaking of the album, Lu said: “A lot has happened in the past seven years, a lot of healing and growth, but this isn’t really a healing album. It’s more of a reckoning. It’s about facing the parts of myself I tried to move past, and realising they were still shaping everything. This album is me standing in that truth instead of trying to transcend it.”

This week, Lu announced they’ll be embarking on a tour across EU/UK & North America, including a date at New York’s Pioneer Works and London’s KOKO. Tickets are on sale today at 10AM local time – available HERE.

Earlier this year, Lu brought ‘So Help Me God’ to the stage for the first time across an 8-show residency at the iconic Blue Note in Los Angeles and New York. In May, they presented ‘PENUMBRA‘ at Palazzo Diedo in Venice – a major new performance work commissioned by Olivier Berggruen and Monteverde Productions that dissolves the boundaries between concert, installation and ritual, drawing audiences into a living environment of sound, movement and presence.

With ‘So Help Me God’, Kelsey Lu arrives fully realised – uncompromising in vision, visceral in presence, and as ambitious as anything in her field. It is, without question, a new chapter.
