Kelli-Leigh – the uncredited voice behind two UK No.1 hits, Duke Dumont’s ‘I Got U’ and SecondCity’s ‘I Wanna Feel’ – steps into the spotlight with her long-awaited debut album Legacy.
A bold, independent debut, Legacy marks a pivotal chapter in the story of the Grammy-nominated British singer-songwriter, as she cements herself as one of the UK’s leading anthemic dance-pop artists. The album is made up of 16 of Kelli-Leigh’s solo tracks, including ‘New Chic’ (playlisted by Capital Dance, KISS FM & Radio 1), ‘Can’t Dance’ (KISS FM radio support), and ‘Unconditional’, which peaked at #37 on iTunes and #20 on UK radio charts. There’s also the new single, February’s ‘Broken Heart’, a thematically emotional heartbreak record laced with a breaks-y 80s-esque retro groove.
More than just a collection of singles, Legacy tells the story of Kelli-Leigh so far – and it’s a non-stop party. Packed with summer-ready dance cuts, the album blends anthemic piano riffs, club energy, and her signature soaring vocals. New single ‘Elevate’ (out 15th August) brings trancey arpeggiated synths, while ‘Birds and the Bees’delivers funky bass and disco guitar for an instant lift. ‘Hold On Tonight’ lays down groovy synths and adds drama through sharp string stabs, and ‘Kill The Lights’ is a full-throttle dancefloor weapon. Penultimate track ‘Pulse’ pairs a radio-friendly hook with dark, pacey house, before the album closes with ‘Love Myself’ — an empowering, almost gospel-like emotional anthem built for summer.
