Jack Lukeman has today rereleased his rousing original single ‘The King of Soho’ – a bold reworking of one of his most popular songs, celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
Taken from his 2016 album Magic Days, ‘The King of Soho’ has stood as a firm fan-favourite and a staple of Lukeman’s live shows, with his booming vocals atop strutting brass and a full band backing.
The sharp, up-tempo remaster is cut down from a sprawling stage favourite into a tight radio-edit, arriving with a remastered music video originally directed and edited by French director and screenwriter Tigrane Minassian, bringing the expansive single’s theatrical swagger to life with renewed energy.
Originally inspired by touring with the Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, ‘The King of Soho’ channels a collision of classic influences with a modern flair – from Frank Sinatra to Iggy Pop, echoes of Mack the Knife, Jackie, Minnie the Moocher and The Jean Genie and dashed with the current edge of artists such as RAYE, Janelle Monáe and Arctic Monkeys.
The rerelease is a forward-facing reintroduction to Lukeman, an artist whose powerful live performances translate seamlessly to the airwaves, blending swing, rock attitude, and modern production into a more cohesive and enduring sound.
Jack Lukeman performs back to back nights at the 3Oylmpia Theatre on Friday, March 19th and Saturday, March 20th 2027:
Friday 19 March 2027 | The Immortal Songs of The 27 Club | Tickets
