Irish rising artist Eva St Maria – drops cinematic new single ‘Heartache, Baby!’ you can read our review here

Berlin based Irish singer songwriter Eva St. Maria turns heartbreak into something quietly cinematic on her new single, “Heartache, Baby!”. Written in the raw aftermath of a breakup, the track unfolds like a private reckoning made public, messy, vulnerable, and ultimately accepting in its honesty. Rather than romanticising loss, Eva St. Maria lingers in the uncertainty of it, capturing the emotional whiplash that comes after love abruptly disappears.

Built on sweeping strings, shimmering guitars, and a vocal performance that rises from restrained confession to full bodied catharsis, “Heartache, Baby!” feels both intimate and expansive. There are shades of Sharon Van Etten in its emotional gravity, while the sharp lyrical intimacy recalls Julia Jacklin. At the same time, the track carries a theatrical emotional punch that fans of Lady Gaga will recognise, particularly in the way the chorus erupts with aching conviction.

The single blends nostalgic 90s rock textures with polished indie-pop and subtle country influences, creating a sound that feels timeless without slipping into imitation. The production never overwhelms the song’s emotional core, instead, every swell of instrumentation mirrors the gradual movement from devastation toward acceptance.

“Heartache, Baby!” is a striking release from Eva St. Maria, not just a breakup song, but a document of grief unfolding in real time, delivered with sincerity, scale, and emotional precision.

The single marks the third chapter in St Maria’s visual EP trilogy of the same name, a concept project charting the full arc of a relationship from hope (“Naïve”) to attachment (“Always Have You”) and now closure.

“Heartache, Baby!” comes in with a 7 out of 10

Rating: 7 out of 10.
