“City Lovin’” is the latest release from Galway singer-songwriter Johnluke and explores the ups and downs in a relationship – like neglect and differences between two people – while using subtle messages and metaphors to show the struggles. Johnluke is a singer/songwriter and musician from Portumna, Co Galway. His debut single “Already Been Told” was released in March 2024 and now eight singles later he has plenty more music on the way. Johnluke‘s music signature comes with a genre blending pop/folk/country style in with that a natural passion for storytelling, his heartfelt lyrics with a blend of captivating melodies creates a soulful sound within his songs that resonates with all ages.
Johnluke has been making a name for himself in the Irish music industry as one to watch since Galway Bay FM made him a finalist for Irish Music Month 2024. Recently, Johnluke was one of Todays FM’s Top 5 emerging Irish artists as part of their “Irelands Next Big Busker 2025” campaign which saw Johnluke supported by Dave Moore as his chosen busker to win the competition. As an eventual runner up he raised vital funds in aid of Focus Ireland.
Johnluke has played at iconic venues and festivals across Ireland and been seen regularly at Quays Bar Galway, Mike the Pies Listowel, CASK Limerick alongside his first festival playing as part of RiverFest in Shannonbridge supporting LYRA.
2025 marks his debut performance at Whelan’s in Dublin supporting Jamie McIntyre on May 9th (Sold Out) before returning with Mark O’Donnell on May 24th. (Limited Tickets available via whelanslive.com)
