Imelda May – covers Declan O’Rourkes ‘Love is the Way’ from ‘Kyabram with Kisses XX’ the limited edition

Following the celebrated release of Kyabram with Kisses XX, the limited edition, Record Store Day Smart Vinyl on April 12th,  a special guest recording by Imelda May of Love Is The Way is out now.

The exclusive Smart Vinyl, Kyabram with Kisses XX,  marks the 20th anniversary of Declan O’Rourke’s acclaimed debut album Since Kyabram, which captured the heart of the Irish music scene and quickly garnered critical acclaim, earning gold, platinum, and double platinum certifications.

Originally written and recorded by Declan O’Rourke, Love Is The Way has found a vibrant new life through Imelda’s unmistakable voice and fearless artistry. Speaking about the collaboration, O’Rourke shared:

“It was the treat of a lifetime to have Imelda May record Love Is The Way. I’ve always been blown away by her singular voice, her fearlessness as a performer and by the powerful woman and creative force that she is.

It seemed to be by pure chance recently that, as I was working on the idea of ‘Kyabram With Kisses XX’ (a special Record Store Day version of Kyabram’s 20th Anniversary edition with some stellar guest contributions) Imelda happened to call and asked me if Love Is The Way was my own song, saying she’d love to do something with it. It would have made no sense to not invite her aboard and not long after that we arranged some studio time to record her version.

To be in the room and witness the power of her voice as she transformed the song into the soulful and soaring rendition that resulted was an experience I’ll never forget. She literally brought me to tears and almost tore the roof off too!”

The track is showcased on Side B of the Smart Vinyl, which also features a special Paul Weller recording of Galileo. Side A features a curated collection of O’Rourke’s personal favourites from the album, while exclusive bonus material is sprinkled throughout the LP.
