HAVVK – have shared thier latest single ‘Pick Your Poison’

Alt-rock outfit HAVVK today release their crashing new single ‘Pick Your Poison’  – taken from their highly anticipated fourth album Time Will Kill, releasing June 19th via VETA Records.

‘Pick Your Poison’ arrives as the soaring final single ahead of new album Time Will Kill, self-described as ‘a reckoning’. An album that chronicles the personal pursuit to reclaim control, it’s a decisive shift in perspective from their third album, To Fall Asleep – a tumultuous rollercoaster ride of anxiety, paranoia, and the longing for reconnection. Time Will Kill emerges as a defiant, ground-shaking successor, sharpening HAVVK’s intensity like a storm gathering strength.

“We wanted to make something that addressed the feeling we both had that time is always running out”, members Julie Hough and Matt Harris explain. “Whether it is small trivial tasks that you don’t have time to finish, things you are passionate about that you don’t have time to fully explore, or things you see in the world that you want to try to help with but can’t find a way to prioritise to the point you feel like you are making a difference.”

They continue, “There’s so much that feels like it is going backwards in the world at the moment both close to home, with nationalistic movements in Ireland and the UK but also one global geopolitical crisis after the other. We have both felt a sense of guilt putting time into our personal interests while all of this is going on. These tracks are about working through that feeling in different ways; pausing and asking yourself, how are you actually using that time, whose pockets are you lining, and who are you actually looking out for?”

‘Pick Your Poison’ explores the divisiveness of current-day discourse; the button-click speed at which we are able to pick a side, while making less and less time to be informed – and the sense of isolation that can result. Harris says: “It feels to me that a lot of social media is full of debate complex issues but doesn’t provide any kind of platform for measured or informative discussion. This song tries to sum up being in that environment and not knowing how to respond in that noise.”

The single is a visceral window into Time Will Kill; An unflinching commentary on the push and pull of one of life’s most complex forces: connection. HAVVK confront some of their heaviest topics to date with grace, power and introspection, bringing to the fore the vulnerability and intensity that shape the record.
