Gary Kemp – releases new single ”I Know Where I’m Going” with accompanying AI generated video

Great British Songwriter Gary Kemp is set to return with his third solo album, This Destination” out on 31st January 2025 through East West Records.

Today, Kemp releases the third single from the forthcoming album, I Know Where I’m Going. The song was recorded at Reformation Studios and Rak Studios and was self-produced by Kemp, alongside longtime collaborator Toby Chapman.

The track is paired with a stunning AI-generated music video, directed by Mike Bennion, that portrays a man’s epic journey across land and sea in a vivid, hyper-real visual style.

The track’s instrumental section features a string arrangement by the renowned John Metcalfe (formerly of The Durutti Column and more recently string arranger to the likes of Peter GabrielBlur and U2). The song also features throat singing by the Mercury Prize nominee, British Folk artist Sam Lee.

The final track on the album, it’s on I Know Where I’m Going that Kemp reaches his resolution. He sings, I know where I’m going, I plan to take a rest there. Clearly Kemp finds his peace of mind on the album’s full circle moment. He said, It’s the most personal on the record… It had to go last – it just made sense.

The release follows the album’s anthemic first single, Put Your Head Up  (SEE THE VIDEO HERE) and title track This Destination.

The album will be released alongside a special Dolby Atmos mix, created by Steven Wilson. Wilson uses spatial audio mixing which creates an immersive sound by placing audio elements into a three dimensional space. The effect is a stunning recreation of how we hear sound in the real world. Wilson is the renowned master of this.
