Gaeya – releases ‘Growth’ EP and ‘Emptiness’ video

Swedish Earth Music artist Gaeya has today released her new EP Growth, arriving for the Midsummer celebrations.

Further hailing the Nordic holiday, she has released the video for the new single ‘Emptiness’. This video is filmed at Midsummers Eve 1976 and serves as a time capsule of frivolous joy before technology like smartphones, AI and the obsession for personal branding took over our lives.

The lush synth pop of ‘Emptiness’, and the accompanying video, is a reminder to question what is the real you and what is truly important in life. To spend summer more engaged in the life that happens around us, spend time in nature, with loved ones, and to stay present.

Regarding the single Gaeya says, “‘Emptiness is about meeting with the silence and emptiness when tuning out the noise of today. Many people feel uncomfortable to stay with their own feelings and thoughts because it can show us things we would rather not see. But if we allow ourselves to feel and see the thing that goes on inside, by turning off the constant flow of distractions, we will start to get access to another kind of stillness and Emptiness. Instead of feeling draining it feels empowering and unifying. It gives us a space to feel who we truly are without judgment, and we get to feel fully authentic with ourselves.

The song and the EP are both released on Midsummer’s Eve, a celebration rooted in ancient pagan traditions that today remains Sweden’s biggest and most cherished holiday. The reason Growth is being released on this day is to draw strength and energy from the sun and the season as we move through times of transformation. It is an invitation to welcome the light and remember that even during difficult times, there is always something worth celebrating.”

The Growth EP is a perfect paring of past and present, finding Gaeya pulling from the sonics of her Nordic ancestry, while propelling sounds into the future with a rich tapestry of electronics produced by Anders Rane. It follows her acclaimed 2021 debut EP Awakening, which symbolised the first wave of awareness that many people experienced—a moment of questioning: “What do I truly want from my life?”. The Growth EP now arrives to offer support along that path, inviting us, and sometimes pushing us, to grow.

“We hope that Growth can be a source of support for anyone moving through a challenging period in life, playing as a reminder that you are not alone.” Gaeya says. “We are all walking this journey together, and perhaps now more than ever, it is time to join forces, support one another, and grow through these transformative times together.”
