Mute The TV are a four piece indie-rock band from Greystones, Co. Wicklow. The band consists of brothers Elliot and Dylan Crampton, Oscar Hackett and David Heffernan. They are an independent band who record, produce and mix their music at home. The band played their first gig together on October 6th, 2023 to a sold out crowd in The Whale Theatre, Greystones. They have since sold out the 135 capacity venue two more times on April 27th, 2024 and most recently July 11th, 2026.
Their 2025 single ‘Depression Session‘ has amassed 32,000 streams having been used in an episode of UK TV show, Made In Chelsea, being added to Spotify’s Editorial Playlists, Hot New Bands and
Fresh Finds UK & IE and was included in the Top 100 Irish Songs on Radio Nova 2025.
Their 2026 single, ‘27 Years Young‘ was played daily with Beta Da Silva on RTE 2FM and Kieran McGuinness on Radio Nova as well as receiving radio play across the country, the UK and US. The band have played shows in Fibber Magees, The Ruby Sessions, Whelans, The Harbour Bar & The Whale Theatre. They have received radio play with 2FM, Radio Nova, TodayFM, EastCoastFM, WLRFM, Corks RedFM and more with their various singles. Hotpress have described their singles as “indie-rock anthem centered on self-acceptance” (Fragile). “Infectious as ever, absolutely dripping with both imagination and undeniable skill.” (You’re So Cruel). Teeming with anger and sick guitar lines, Mute the TV make use of distorted vocals to create a rock single that lands somewhere between 90s grunge and 60s psychedelia. (Highfalutin).
The band are currently in the studio recording their debut EP due for release in early 2027.
‘I know a guy, a really lovely guy, we grew up in the same town, our friend groups had crossed
paths as teenagers, but we were always on the periphery of actually knowing each other
beyond a nod or a wave. Unfortunately, this acquaintance’s mom passed away when he was
younger. Earlier this year, he was raising money for the Irish Cancer Society and he had written
a story about his mom in which he described her as ‘glitter on a grey day’. I read this story and
was really moved by it and I knew I wanted to write a song with that name. It was a beautiful story.
I spend a lot of my time in my head and one of my recurring thoughts is how will I cope when I
lose a parent. A day I have been dreading since growing up and grasping the idea that the
people we love and that are there for us eventually do die. Reading my friend’s story gave me
hope and comfort. We all experience loss in some shape or form at some time or another.
Maybe remembering those we lose fondly helps them to live on and us, too.’
