Emerging Irish Retro-Indie singer songwriter Papa Boyle – set to unleash mesmerising new single ‘Tranquillo’ October 25th

Papa Boyle is a Retro Indie artist based out of Dublin, Ireland. From an early age, he was given exposure to a wide range of music that spanned multiple decades and genres which fuelled the fire to become a songwriter and performer.

Taking inspiration from the retro sounds of the ’50s and 60’s Rock n Roll era (ie Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers) with a tinge of modern Indie (ie Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Kings Of Leon, Orville Peck) Papa Boyle croons over an ambient landscape filled with rousing melodies and pondering punchlines.

The resulting hooks transport the listener to diners of old, bars of new, and crossroads that feel familiar yet unknown at the same time. With aspirations of 2024 being a breakout year with releases and gigs across Ireland, Papa Boyle has already seen himself land some great success with his debut release ‘Between Two Fools’ which was released in April 2024. and the follow up single ‘Last Chance Saloon’.

He has been picked up in various stations and magazines such as Hot Press, RTE Entertainment, Pure Mzine, The Beat, Shannonside FM, Galway Bay FM, RTE 2XM, Prospect Radioand many more as well as supporting Elaphi in the workmans cellar with Singular Artists. Now he’s back with aspirations to build on his momentum with his brand new upcoming single ‘Tranquillo’ set for release this October.

His sound brings something fresh and unique to the music scene, watch this space!

Tranquillo is a track that lyrically explores the longing for moments of peacefulness throughout day to day life, it is set against a backdrop of a Retro Indie Western landscape that feels like it needs to be played on the open road.

Tranquillo thankfully, came together quite quickly over the space of a few days, Papa Boyle wrote down Tranquillo as a word he wanted to try and use in an upcoming song or as a theme, funnily enough when he picked up the guitar again it was the next song he wrote.

“It was really cool to further explore some of the country tone’s and influences I have of late in parts of this track. I enjoyed writing the lead guitar in particular; it feels to me like a mixture of Chris Stapleton or Thin Lizzy at times. ““The rhythm section as a whole locked in nicely to provide a 50’s esk shuffle to the record, we had good fun adding the castanets and guiro which were both lovely additions in the end.”

“Tranquillo displays more of range in my vocal, it was an enjoyable process to delve further into this, vocally we wanted to deliver a performance that emulated the likes of Roy Orbison but with a more contemporary crooner feel.”

“I think Tranquillo showcases the further development in sound and songwriting, it feels like this is just the start of further exploration of the Retro Indie sound I am trying to achieve, plenty more exciting things in the pipeline. “
