Elaine Mai – announces Arts Council funded music production workshops

Galway-based electronic artist and Choice Music Prize-nominated producer Elaine Mai has announced a new series of one-to-one music production workshops, supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Designed to address the ongoing imbalance in music production and mixing, the initiative will support five artists through paid, six-hour sessions focused on developing skills, confidence and independence in creating and releasing music.

Applications are now open, HERE.

There remain significantly fewer women and underrepresented artists working in production and mixing roles across the industry, a gap that continues to shape who gets to create, finish and release music. Mai’s workshops aim to offer a practical response to this, providing direct access to the skills and knowledge needed to work independently.

The programme builds on Mai’s recent mentorship with UK producers Simon Neale (Shadow Child) and David Phelan, which was supported through Arts Council funding. Speaking on the initiative, Mai says:

“That one-to-one time was invaluable. I learned so much about production and mixing, and these workshops are about passing that on.”

The workshops are open to artists who have released at least one piece of music and are aimed at those who face barriers to accessing production and mixing skills, including (but not limited to) women, non-binary and trans artists, disabled artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, artists from migrant backgrounds, and those outside major music hubs.

Participants will be selected at random from eligible applicants, deadline for applications is April 24th.

Alongside this initiative, Elaine Mai continues to perform live across Ireland, with upcoming shows including:

Beyond The Pale Festival – Wicklow (June 14th)
Mother Pride Block Party – Dublin (June 27th)
