Dublin’s Papa Boyle – celebrates youth & mischief on ‘Blood Orange Skies’

Blood Orange Skies
is a reflective celebration of youth, friendship, and the simple joys of growing up. Papa Boyle recalls evenings spent on the road playing heads and volleys, first nights out with friends, and the mischievous energy that made those moments feel surreal and unforgettable.

“Sometimes we take life too seriously,” he says. “There’s a part of us that could learn a thing or two from those memories — a bit of divilment or messing around might be exactly what makes a good time.”

Recorded in Stoneybatter, Dublin, and at Anologue Catalog Studio, Newry, the track was mixed by Carl Small and mastered by Joel Harkin.

Anchored by retro-inspired instrumentation and Papa Boyle’s signature croon, Blood Orange Skies combines the nostalgia of vintage rock ’n’ roll with a modern indie sensibility, making it both heartfelt and timeless.

Papa Boyle is a retro indie singer-songwriter based in Dublin, Ireland, blending vintage warmth with modern indie sensibilities. From an early age, he was immersed in music spanning multiple decades, which ignited his passion for crafting songs that feel timeless yet contemporary.

Drawing inspiration from the ’50s and ’60s rock ’n’ roll icons such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and The Everly Brothers, with a modern indie edge reminiscent of Father John Misty, Angel Olsen, Kings Of Leon, and Orville Peck, Papa Boyle croons over ambient soundscapes filled with rousing melodies and clever, reflective lyrics. His songs transport listeners to a crossroads of nostalgia and modernity, diners of old, bars of new, and moments that feel both familiar and unknown.

Since his debut release Between Two Fools in April 2024, Papa Boyle has built momentum with singles including Last Chance Saloon, Tranquillo, Falling For A Daydream (10,000+ Spotify streams), Chasing The Smile, Wave To Me, Drive Thru, King Of The Late Night (praised by Hot Press, GoldenPlec, IMRO, McGig Music, & more), and most recently Flowers, which earned Track of the Week on RTÉ 2FM.

He has performed at iconic venues including Whelan’s, Workman’s Cellar, Sofar Sounds Amsterdam & Dublin, and The Victoria Dalston in London, and has received coverage on BBC Introducing, RTE 2FM, Pure Mzine, The Beat, Today FM, 98FM and more.

With his upcoming EP and the new single Blood Orange Skies, Papa Boyle is poised to make 2026 a breakthrough year for wider coverage, festival slots, and unforgettable gigs.

Vintage warmth meets modern indie, Papa Boyle’s retro sound is one to watch.

Don’t miss him live in Dublin’s Button Factory on May 23rd!
