Downcast – announce new EP ‘WTF Happened’ + New single “raincheck”

Bristol’s finest emo/alt-rock four piece downcast are here with a boatload of announcements to brighten your Summer! Having returned with a bang in April with the popular single “bittersweet“, downcast can today announce their brand new EP, and a second look of what’s to come from their new release.

Downcast’s new EP is titled “WTF HAPPENED” (a name that so many of us can relate to at different stages of our lives), and will be released on the 6th of September. The new taste of WTF HAPPENED comes in the shape of new single “raincheck“. With “raincheck”, another huge earworm is coming your way from the South West’s rapidly rising emo favourites

The video for “raincheck” also continues the retro 90’s narrative theme that was started in the “bittersweet” video. Check out the video for “raincheck” below:

You can also stream “raincheck” on your digital platform of choice on this link.

For more detail about the creation of their new EP, here is downcast frontman Liam Edwards:

“Our new EP is a collection of songs that reflect on the events of the past couple of years. It explores feelings of nostalgia, anger, romance and grief. The title is inspired by those moments where you look back at how simple and carefree your life used to be and wonder what happened.”

While on their new single “raincheck”, Edwards had this to say:

“‘raincheck’ is a love song with a hint of angst about my own mistakes and being stuck in a day job that I hated.”

The announcements of WTF HAPPENED and “raincheck” come hot on the heels of last weeks’ news that downcast are embarking on their first UK headline tour since May 2023 in the Autumn.

Liam, Ben, Jeff and Sam are heading out for a run of shows across England and Wales in September. Kicking off in Plymouth, they’ll head up to Cardiff and Manchester before finishing off at the Hope and Anchor in London. Support for the Plymouth show will come from GURL, with support for the other shows will be announced in the future.
