Following a string of releases which included the what comes after saturday. EP and most recent single ‘claim the kill!’, genre-crossing songwriter donny. has announced that he is the featured artist on the latest single from fellow Galway artist Oakruled, ‘Scarecrow’.
Hailing from Hungary and currently residing in Galway, donny. has reached extraordinary heights in his musical journey. His mesmerising tracks have graced prominent Spotify Editorial playlists, including the highly coveted New Music Friday UK, New Music Friday Sri Lanka, and New Music Friday Bangladesh. With a unique sound that pushes creative boundaries, his artistry is making waves in the industry and enchanting listeners across the globe. Today, donny. has jumped on fellow Galway artist Oakruled’s (Dara Naughton) track ‘Scarecrow’.
The pair’s working relationship began with Dara’s time as part of one of donny.’s favourite Galway bands, Van Gone. Speaking of the recording process, donny. noted: “It took us a few months to get it done. The regular back and forth of is ‘this song good or not’ held us back, but we got there in the end. The recording itself was smooth, the hard bit only came when it was time to piece it together”.
On the production side, I wanted it to feel heavy but dreamy, and I really wanted to capture what Van Gone represented to me just with a bit more modern elements”.
Speaking out the track origins, donny. Explains: “Scarecrow is about being lost and feeling indecisive. It’s about being stagnant for these reasons and feeling a temptation to change in a way that doesn’t reflect the “real” you”
“The lyrics are about personal growth and not being too easily influenced by other peoples “gods”. A struggle with the urge to follow an easier, less just way of doing things, a temptation that is “rich” and “potent””.
With more singles set to be released over the coming weeks; donny. is gearing up for a spectacular end to the year, to cap off a moment which has seen him rise to become one of the most compelling rising artists in Ireland.
